Our Mission Statement
The Importance of Little Things, Inc. is a nonprofit corporation organized for exclusively charitable, scientific, religious, and educational purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended.
The goal of this organization is to assist professional caregivers in providing the best possible care to lower-income patients with a life-threatening medical condition. Thoughtful, imaginative caregivers understand that during such difficult times the most modest of gifts can dramatically improve a patient's care, mood, and outlook on life.
Examples of such gifts include professional massages, spa treatments, travel expenses, special infusion room clothing, baby monitors, basic hearing devices, and items of sentimental value.
Despite the importance of these small, non-medical gifts, healthcare organizations -- whether hospices, hospitals, infusion centers, or nursing facilities -- often do not allocate funds for such purchases. As a result, the opportunity to make that extra difference in a patient's life is lost. The Importance of Little Things, Inc. was established to share these ideas with caregivers and healthcare organizations alike, and to provide the funds for these types of purchases, when the patient and family cannot, and the caregiver's organization, does not.
Our Non Discrimination Policy
The Importance of Little Things, Inc. does not and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of its activities or operations. These activities include, but are not limited to, hiring and firing of staff, selection of volunteers and vendors, and provision of services. We are committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all members of our staff, clients, volunteers, subcontractors, vendors, and clients.
